Yoeido Autumn Shoot 2012

Autumn is here! This is the time to get those DSLRs out and start shooting!

Okay those are their shoes and next is mine!

Maybe we'll try one or two macro shots with this 50mm

The photographers now can go home in peace...

The camera that I use in this shoot is a Canon 600D. My primary lens is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens that I use for almost all shots in this post, except the wide angle shot including the tall buildings. This time I tried something new, custom white balance. A friend was wearing a white shirt so he became my white card. Voila!

If you can see there are some composition mistakes done somewhere. Our bad. Although my EF 50mm f/1.8 is very sharp, I found that the 'nervous' bokeh or bokeh quality issue is quite obvious; especially in the macro shots. Most of the bokeh are not rendered smoothly like the more expensive ones do. As a photographer with a thin wallet I just gotta live with it... As long as it is still working and take pictures, I will be mostly fine..

The camera is a year old now. Yay! Let's see what I can do with this camera in the future. This is my baby steps of becoming a professional photographer! See ya later!

Priorities Changed - Hyosung GTR250R

It has been a while since I posted stuff this month. Eh? What am I doing? I am throwing a lame intro that many bloggers do! Apologizing to invisible people on how I didn't write stuff for a while and stuff like that. I'm pretty sure I am not missed that much. Or am I? Aww stop it you!

I just finished my mid term exam for this semester and I survived. Maybe I will get some cuts and bruises when I get the results but lets keep that for later. So about the title, it was a while ago that I saw on 9gag what are the priority for guys. During the teenage years it all about girls, girls, girls.. As the guy gets older it turns to girls, money, money. Then as adulthood came in and it turns into money, money, girls.. Then when the guy grew old it all changed into; toilet, toilet; toilet.

I was talking with a new kid that I knew through facebook. He is an avid fan of superbikes. Those big supersport track bikes. We just talked about it casually. Then one night in Hongdae I spotted a group of superbikes parked by the road. There was a red Ducati that I liked but I fell in love at first sight with a Harley Davidson. It was a single seater and surprizingly small bike with a shiny chromed V-twin engine. But the body got some black powder coat finish, probably custom, and it looked so good.

So I googled 'Korean superbikes' and found out about the Hyosung GT250R. It looks stunning. It is not all vintage and like some highway cruiser style of bike where we can sit with our backs straight up but this is like a supersport bike, we can hug the fuel tank and hunch forward like those racing ones. It is superb.

Hyosung GTR520R I snapped near Cheonggyechon
Plus I am the type of kid who goes around the neighbourhood on my bicycle almost every evening. It is my form of escapism back in school days. It was awesome back then. The place was also not as busy as it is now. Just me, my bike and the network of roads of Taman Seri Gombak. The joy of riding.. I had that feeling back then. Maybe this time I can upgrade my ride..

But there are stuff that are keeping me back. First is the license. Mine is only for 150 cc and below. So I need to learn to handle another class of bikes, the fast and big ones. Oh I must go through the hassle of getting my licence again? Oh god why.

Next is the price. I can get a Canon 5D Mark III and it's 'kit' lens; Canon 24-105mm f/4 L USM. But I can get two Nikon D600 with the Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom lens and still have some more money to spare. Let's talk about photography. Maybe I want to start to take my skills to a whole new level as a paid photographer. Yay! Money! Maybe this is my humble beginnings in the road of becoming a legendary photographer? Oh imagination.

See ya round for more stuff soon. The peak of autumn season is coming soon. I am just stuck at home because of the rain today. Maybe I will shoot some pictures soon so wait for it. (I know you will forget to wait and just like, OH! a link at facebook! *click). So erm ciao! I will share some if I wrote some post!

Photo Week October - Gwanghwamun Long Exposure & Incheon Sports

Photo Week I shall call it. It is because just in one week I came home with lots of photos that I LOVE and my SKILLS sharpened.

Kicked off the week with a lone stroll by sunset at Gwanghwamun. I let my Canon 600D rest on a mini-stand on the sidewalk just a few centimeters away from moving traffic and got this:

And by Saturday I went to our student's association sports day in Inha University in Incheon. A very kind friend Edward Hong lend me his Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM lens. I came home with more lovely photos.

And this is me!

Thanks for visiting and see ya around!
